During my time working for Joolca, my key objective was to help them expand their product range, ensuring they remained ahead of the competition. This involved conducting research to identify areas of opportunity and concept design to explore how these ideas could be brought to market.
This included the design of three new heating systems that leveraged the Joolca heater technology and a new product category that are yet to be announced.
A secondary role was to support the production of the existing product range. This involved packaging design, troubleshooting production issues, optimising production and developing any updates.
To complement Joolca’s range of shower tents, I designed their first toiletries bag. This involved the initial concept ideation, production drawings, product testing and supporting the manufacturers.
The bag was designed with the family in mind and featured removable, modular pouches which could be used to separate toiletries items or for multiple users. Internal and external mounting hardware allows the bag to seamlessly connect to Joolca’s range of tents and awnings.
Created for car and 4wd campers, the mounted ensuite is a private bathroom that can be quickly deployed on the go. The larger awning features two sections that can be used as a shower, changing room or a space for a camping toilet.
I was responsible for the end to end design, engineering and delivery of both the single and double ensuite design. This involved CAD modelling of the mounting components and detailed design for manufacturing.
Joolca moved from a B2B to a direct B2C business model. During this transition I helped redesign the packaging range to make it more sustainable and optimise it for the direct to customer model.
As part of this process I created a new visual identity for the packaging and optimised the construction to remove plastic and foam to minimise waste. The end result was a recycled cardboard packaging that featured a single print.
I helped Joolca roadmap the future of the Joolca Hottap range. As part of this process I conducted user research and market analysis to identify areas of opportunity and product development. Working alongside my lead, we reimagined the next 5 years of releases and delivered an implementation roadmap that informed Joolca’s business strategy.
Unfortunately I can’t show you what these products look like or some of my most recent work as they are yet to be released but stay tuned as I’ll update my folio as soon as they come to market.
